Although the words "training" and "development" are used interchangeably, there are many differences between the meanings of the two. The differences are related to their uses. Basically, a training plan comes with mostly specific and measurable goals such as performing one process correctly or operating one machine.

 

In contrast, one development plan focuses on acquiring broad capabilities that can be used in a wide range of situations. They included skills such as finishing, communication and leadership.
